So I decided that I needed a new course in life. I didn’t want to go back to working for a fortune fifty corporation where the pressure of quarterly deadlines and the sheer size squeezed the joy I felt in helping someone solve a problem. So I needed to find something else.
I spent a long time looking around, making several false starts before I finally found a way to help people. When I realized it had a name (Digital Marketing), that was better. When I discovered that many of the skills I had acquired working for that big old company were very portable, the lights went on, and the band played.
So here is what we do: we look for smaller companies who need help. I am not best suited to working for big outfits. I prefer smaller companies.
So think crafters, artists, churches, martial arts schools, veterinarians. Truly sole proprietorships, or near enough to them as doesn’t matter. Small contractors, landscapers, you get the idea. I can get the feeling that I am helping someone rather than some faceless corporation.
These are the people who are the real job creators, the real economic engines of our communities. These are the people who need help to compete with the big outfits. The beautiful thing about the Web is that the right branding will level out the playing field.
